  2. Read all directions for an experiment several times. Follow the directions exactly as they are written. If you are in doubt about any part of the experiment, ask your teacher for assistance.

  3. Never perform activities that are not authorized by your teacher. Always obtain permission before "experimenting" on your own. Never handle any equipment unless you have specific permission.

  4. ???????

  5. Always slant test tubes away from yourself and others.

  6. NEVER eat or drink in the science lab.

  7. Report accidents immediately to the teacher—even if you consider it a “minor” accident.

  16. 1. Turn off water, gas, unplug electrical devices.2. Clean all equipment used and return to proper storage.

Assignment • With your group brainstorm a list of lab safety rules—at least 10. • Divide the rules between each group member. • Each group member will list and illustrate the lab safety rules assigned to him/her by the group then present those rules to the class. • I will supply paper for this activity. • Begin using pencil---after completed with pencil you may use markers, crayons, etc to color your posters. • “Laboratory Safety Rules” posters will be posted in the classroom.
