What keeps a story interesting, after the LEAD wears off? • Pitchfork Strategy provide reader with STICKING details: • Create images (color, size, shape, senses) • List parts of something to amplify or make a point • Set the mood (feeling words) Learning Goal: To be able add detail to my writing using the pitchfork strategy.   3. PITCHFORK PRACTICE Learning Goal: To be able add detail to my writing using the pitchfork strategy. Instructions: 1. Let’s look at the example of how to add PITCHFORK details to a sentence. Pick a sentence? 2. In your group, work adding details to the sentence using the PITCHFORK STRATEGY. You will add 3 details to the original sentence, in different colors. 3. PITCHFORK PASS- Your group will pass your pitchfork sentence to the next group and you will receive a new pitchfork sentence. Read it and add different detail that your group thinks makes the sentence better. FUNNIEST, MOST INTERTE STING SENTENCE WINS!!! Pitchforking Sentences- The group picks one sentence. 1. The movie was scary. 2. The cell phone has several apps. 3. The Cowboys played a bad game Sunday. 4. It was the best concert I had ever seen. 5. She is the meanest student in the school. 6. It is a fun place to spend the summer. 7. The teacher was my favorite all through middle school. 8. It was so crowded the store was hard to walk around.

Instructions: • Let’s look at the example of how to add PITCHFORK details to a sentence. • Around the room you will find different sentences that need to be PITCHFORKED. Take the post-it notes on your desk, create a new sentence using pitchfork details and POST-IT on the pitchfork. 3 SENTENCE MINIMUM • Can you add a detail to someone else’s PITCHFORK and improve upon it? • Share around the room- read the sentences and let’s see what is in our imaginations. • Which of these PITCHFORK details can you add to your myTunes essay?
