  2. History Began in 1994 Originally envisioned to provide ongoing, endowed support for Research, Scholarships & ASHRAE approved projects Creates a lasting and perpetual source of funding, memorials and honorariums Excellent tool for Chapters & Donors to support ASHRAE into perpetuity

  3. Chapter Investments, Companies or Individuals! Starting an Endowed Research Contribution

  4. How it works … • Minimum contribution of $2,500 • Full amount counts toward RP Goal for Year 1 • Earns PAOE Points for the Chapter • Invested by ASHRAE Foundation • Earns a set 5% interest annually • Part of the overall Foundation Portfolio that is managed by professionals

  5. Then the magic happens

  6. Every year after … into perpetuity … • A donation is given in the donor’s name by Foundation • Donation counts toward RP Goal for Years 2+ • The donor supports RP and the Chapter forever • Principal is never spent and kept in investments

Benefits • Chapter Treasury works for the Chapter, supporting Research • Makes it easier to reach goal every year • Gifts to the Foundation count toward RP Goal • Higher interest rate than most accounts • Hassle free • investment automatically credited by mid-June • Can be built upon every year with annual Chapter contributions

  8. Benefits • Creates a lasting Memorial/Honorarium for a Donor • Can be set up by Chapter, Company, Individual or Group of Donors • Multiple Donors can give to one named Fund • Credit given to everyone, combined into one Fund to build endowment quickly

To get started … • Decide on the amount to Endow • Rule of Thumb: • No more than 50% of Chapter Annual Gift • Other Donors can give as much as they want • Fill out the Endowed Research Gift form • Found on the private RP page • www.ashraerp.com/foundation.html • Mail to ASHRAE Headquarters • c/o Patricia Adelmann
