LDC and LDC Approval Bayview Flowers Ltd. • LDC was Peninsula West Utilities Ltd. at the time. • LDC is now Niagara Peninsula Energy Inc. • Application was based on 1 MWe (ultimate). • Request to connect submitted August, 2006. • Need for CIA waived December, 2006. • 1 MWe much less than 50% of historic minimum feeder load. • No remote trip needed. • Metering configuration changed for two (2) meters (Series Metered).
LDC and LDC Approval Bayview Flowers Ltd. Metering Configuration – Series Metered, Secondary Metered
LDC and LDC Approval Vandermeer Greenhouses Ltd. • LDC is NOTL Hydro. • CIA application submitted October, 2007. • CIA based on 750 kWe. • NOTL Hydro retained AESI to do CIA. • CIA report completed on January, 2008. • No modification required.
LDC and LDC Approval Morningside Greenhouses Ltd. • LDC is Grimsby Power. • CIA application submitted January, 2008. • Grimsby Power retained Dromey Design Inc. (Ian Dromey) to complete CIA. • CIA report received May, 2008. • No remote trip required.
Conclusions • Two (2) CIA’s took 3-4 months to process • In one case, CIA was not needed at all. • Another LDC recently waived need for CIA for a 250 kWe system on a 27.6 kV 3 phase feeder in Southwestern Ontario. • Each LDC liked our proposed protection and control system (based on SEL-451). • In each case, we had/have to demonstrate that we are off-line in <160 ms (in event of abnormal conditions on LDC feeder).
