  2. Alliteration • Constant sound repeated at the beginning of the words • Example-ll cool j loves lemon aid like ha loves limousines.

  3. Onomatopoeia • The use of words that sound like what they mean • Example buzz, and purr sounds like at bee and cat.

  4. Consonance • The repetition of internal or ending consonant sound close together • Example I dropped the locket in the thick mud

  5. hyperbole • Exaggerated figure of speech for emphasis or effect. • Example this book weigh a ton .

  6. Metaphor • Comparison In which the author describes a person or thing using words that are not meant to be taken literally. • Times is a dressmaker specializing in alteration.

  7. Personification • Non human things or abstractions are representative as having human qualities. • Example necessity is the mother of invention.

  8. Simile • A comprising of two things using like or as. • Example o my love is like a red red rose .

  9. Imagery • Use of language to create a mental image imagery can be used for emotional effect and to intensity the impact on the reader. • Example the imagery of the phrase such sweet sorrow.
