When do I research? • Very often we research without being aware of it, for example, if you hear that Alex Ferguson has retired you may check the Internet to see if the rumour is true. • At AS level you will be expected to research on a continual basis. This may take the form of: • Teacher led research • Group research • Independent research
Where do I research? • Books • Periodicals e.g. Sociology Review • Internet • Newspapers • TV/Documentaries/Reports/Film

How to research • Research can be divided into 6 stages: • Identifying the focus of the question and key words • Locating sources • Evaluating sources • Recording sources • Extracting relevant information, contents page, index page, scanning • Using sources appropriately
