  7. Graduation Requirements, 04-05 • English- 4 credits • Math-3 credits, Algebra I required • Science-3 credits, 2 labs required • Social Studies- 3 credits • Practical/Perform Arts- 1 credit • Life Management Skills-.5 credit • Phys Ed- 1 credit • Electives 8.5 credits 1003.43, Florida Statutes

Recommended Classes • English-every year, includes literature, writing & composition skills, reading comprehension & vocabulary • Math-algebra & geometry, take early to enroll in advanced math & science • Science-2 semesters each of biology,chemistry or physics & earth/space science or advanced-total 6 semesters

  9. Recommended Classes, con’t. • Social Studies-5 semesters, includes history, government, economics & geography • Electives-ensure satisfy admission requirements, focus on student strength, allows to show flair & develop interest & abilities DO NOT lighten up senior year.

  10. Beyond Basics • Foreign Languages-2 year minimum • Arts-mind expanding • Computer science- acquire basic knowledge of computers • Consider rigorous courses- International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced Placement (AP), honors, dual enrollment

  11. What can I do ? • Work with school counselor to map out challenging core curriculum & enriching electives • Know requirements for grants & scholarships, make sure child is on track to meet requirements • Use Internet resources to keep track of progress-FACTS.org
