  2. Someone or something that one likes a lot. For example: you are the appleof my eye. Apple of one’s eye

  3. A bad person For example: He’s a bad egg, stay away from him. Bad egg

  4. An important person, or leader. For example: He is a big cheese in his company so you should be nice to him. Big cheese

  5. Basic needs of life, food, shelter, clothing) For example: The voters are worried about bread andbutter issues like jobs and taxes. Bread and Butter

  6. Earn your family’s living. You have to work really hard if you want to bring home the bacon. Bring home the bacon

  7. Calm, not nervous or anxious. I was cool as acucumber when I went for my driving test. Cool as a cucumber

  8. A very lazy person. For example: I’m really active, my brother on the other hand, is a real couch potato. Couch potato

  9. The best of a group, top choice. For example: This is the best store to buy jeans, they only sell the cream of the crop labels. Cream of the crop

  10. To cry or complain about something that has already happened. For example: Don’t cry over spilled milk, you can’t change the mark of your test, so forget about it. To cry over spilled milk

  11. Something one enjoys or does well. For example: I like skiing, but snow boarding is not my cup of tea. Cup of tea

  12. You can’t have it both ways. For example: He refuses to compromise, he always wants to have his cake and eat it too. Have one’s cake and eat it too

  13. To suffer embarrassment. For example: The egg was on my face after I called her the wrong name. Egg on one’s face

  14. To have a lot of energy. For example: She was full of beans tonight, she didn’t stop talking. Full of beans

  15. Something that is easy. For example: The test was a piece ofcake, I finished it early. Piece of cake

  22. Born into a rich family, or just really spoiled. Born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

  23. With distinction. I passed my test with flying colors!! With flying colors

  24. Pitch Black • No light • When the lights went out, the room was pitch black.

  25. Black eye • Bruised eye • He had a black eye after the fight.

  26. Feeling blue • To be sad • I felt blue after my friend left.

  27. Green Thumb • Someone who is good at gardening • My mom loves to work in her garden, she has a green thumb.
