  2. All about obesity What is it? • It is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health

  5. Anorexia Nervosa Anorexia nervosa is a type of eating disorder. • People who have anorexia, have an intense fear of gaining weight. They severely limit the amount of food they eat and can become dangerously thin. • Anorexia affects both the body and the mind. It may start as dieting, but it gets out of control. Other people say you are too thin, but when you look in the mirror, you see a fat person.

Bulimia Nervosa • Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder which has to do about consuming a large amount of food in a short amount of time followed by an attempt to rid oneself of the food consumed. • Bulimia nervosa is considered to be less life threatening than anorexia however, the occurrence of bulimia nervosa is higher. • This eating disorder is nine times more likely to occur in women than men.

  10. ConsequencesThe brain and the heart • Depression and sleep disturbance are associated with obesity. Both these conditions pose tremendous risks for other health related illnesses and quality of life. • Fatty plaque build-up in the blood vessels can result in increased blood pressure and overload the heart. Obese children are at higher risk for heart attacks

  11. The liver • Excess body fat can be deposited inside the liver cells, trigger inflammation and damage the liver cells. This is a slow process over time, but if started in childhood can lead to liver failure.

  12. Obesitycamps • An obesity camp is a type of residential program where people who are overweight or obese go to lose weight through exercise and lifestyle changes. Weight loss camps typically provide nutrition classes weekly and variety of classes and activities designed for weight loss!!!

  15. The Greek Diet is the perfect example of traditional Mediterranean eating. It is based on a variety of colorful and full of flavor foods. The secret of great Greek food is the combination of readily available and simple ingredients including many herbs.

  16. The Greek diet also known as the Mediterranean Diet, is an alternative way of eating that has been adopted in the United States. Food sources include fresh fruits and vegetables as well as lean meats. Following this diet helps heart health weight management and satiety.

  17. In the Greek diet a range of cheeses, tomatoes, olives, bread and a lot of legumes are used. All of these are cooked in a simple but delicious manner using plenty of olive oil, very little butter, not much salt and no fresh cream at all!!! • The result is unique!

Something quick and very easy to cook and avoid eating unhealthy snacks… Ingredients: • 1muffin, cutinhalf • 2 mushrooms • Half cutzucchini and onion • 1 sliceham • 1/2 cupmozzarella • Sometomatopaste,oliveoil • saltandpepper Directions: • Toastthemuffinuntilgoldenandleave ittocool. Preheatthebroiler. Mix thetomatopasteandspreadoverthemuffinhalves. Heattheoliveoilin a fryingpanandcooktheonion, mushroomsandzucchiniuntilthey become golden. • Addtheseasoningandthendividethevegetablesbetweenthemuffinhalvesandscatterthehamandmozzarellaoverthetop. Placeunderthebroilerandcookfor 4 minutes.

SOMETHING QUICK AND SWEET Ingredients: • 1 cup flour • 2 teaspoons sugar, nonfat yogurt, skim milk and water • 1 teaspoon baking powder • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda • 2 egg whites • Some cinnamon Directions: • In a medium bowl, stir together the whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, oats, cornmeal, sweetener, salt, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamon. • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, yogurt, milk and water. • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry, and mix just until moistened. • Heat a skillet over medium heat, and coat with cooking spray. • Pour about 1/3 cup of batter per pancake onto the skillet. • Cook until bubbles begin to form in the center, then flip and cook until browned on the other side.
