  1. IBEX On WeredaNET The DSA Project is implemented by Harvard University and funded by Development Cooperation Ireland (DCI), the Netherlands Minister of Cooperation, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

  2. IBEX On WeredaNET Road Map • IBEX is a distributed, web-based application which, when wide area network connectivity is available, can be accessed from all weredas in the country • Enables fully integrated and real-time processing of public finance in all regions

IBEX On WeredaNET IBEX Pilot On WeredaNET • IBEX is currently being piloted on WeredaNET in Tigray • The pilot started in August 2007 • Five weredas are currently using IBEX account, budget and budget adjustment modules • There will be an official assessment of the pilot in the week of October 15th 2007

IBEX On WeredaNET Challenges • Service level agreements (SLA) between MOFED and ETC • Network availability • Network bandwidth • Quality of service • Connecting BOFEDs to WeredaNET • Each BOFED must be connected to ETC terrestrial network • Last mile connections at weredas • There needs to be a network connection between the WeredaNET site and the finance bureau

  6. IBEX On WeredaNET Rollout of IBEX • IBEX training of wereda staff in all regions • Data migration from zones or weredas previously using BIS/BDA into regional IBEX servers • Operational and IT support of weredas
