Application of Traction Breaks the spasm Helps eliminate pain Reduces bleeding Prevents further nerve, vascular and tissue damage Use least amount of traction necessary
Indications/Contraindications Indicated for proximal and mid shaft femur fractures Contraindicated: - pelvic fractures - supracondylar fracture - compound fractures - fractures of ankle and foot
Childhood Fractures are Serious Injuries Greatest incidence of femur fractures in children occur around the age of 3 Most frequently in the middle shaft Application of the Sager may minimize blood loss and reduce complications
