  2. Bones • Bones are parts of a hard interior. • In all there are 206 bones in the body. • There are 60 arm bones, 60 leg bones 60 torso bones, and 26 skull bones. • Bones in many mammals are similar in number and shape to us, but different in size.

  3. Joints • A joint is the place where 2 bones meet • 3 main joints you need to know about are the ball andsocket joint, the gliding joint, and the hinge joint. • In science we disabled our thumb’s and had to hold a pencil, shade a picture, trace a maze, work a zipper, work a button, tie a shoe, turn pages in a book, and buckle a belt. • Also still with disabled thumbs we had to put a paper clip on a cord like a charm, and tie the cord on like a necklace. Plus we had to open a little vial, pour some popcorn kernels into the screw-cap bottle, screw the lid on, and close the vial. We had to do many other things as well to learn about joints.

  4. Muscles Muscles connect to bones with tissues called tendons. Muscles pull on bones when they contract, causing the bones to move. Muscles contract (shorten) when they work. Here are the names of all the muscles. The Masseter, the deltoid, the Pectoral, the Biceps, the Oblique, the Radial, the Sartorius, the Quadriceps, the Tibialis, the Trapezius, the Triceps, the Lattissimusdorsi, the Gluteus Maximus, the Gastrocnemius, the Achilles tendon.

  5. Coordination A stimulus triggers (starts) a response often received from senses. A response is a reaction of a living thing to a stimulus. A response time is the length of time it takes for a person to respond to a stimulus. Coordination is when all parts work together to complete a task. It takes longer for feet than hands to respond to a visual stimulus because of the greater distance the message must travel. Coordinated humans generally respond to a visual stimulus in less than a quarter of a second.
