  1. Artificial Intelligence BUS 237 Group Project Group 5 – Nicholas yau, chengpeng, GURTej rai

  2. What is AI? • AI is the development of computer systems allowing them to perform human tasks making them appear intelligent and ultimately making people irrelevant.

  3. Real Life Examples • Cars - Tesla, Mercedes • Apple(Company) - uses Siri(Product) for virtual assistance. • Google(Company) -  Google Brain(products) attempting to mimic human-level intelligence.  • Prisma(Company) - application that takes your photo and turns into art pieces of style. • Games – AlphaGo • Genpact’s neural chat assistant, an AI virtual advisor designed to improve customers’ shopping experiences

  4. Costs • Hardware – Expensive equipment (Moore's Law) • Software – coding that mimics humans (DNA) • Data – Data mining cost • Procedure – Adapting to new AI • People – job loss

  5. Current State of AI • Deep learning - learns by itself (branch of neural networks) • Use of AI in the stock exchange and outperformed the general market

  6. Relevance to Business Managers Advantages • Cheaper labor because people are the hardest to change while automation is easiest. • Better outcome, for example Sales forecast system has improved decision making for many managers in different areas like marketing, sales etc.  • Protection of Companies and Bank using AI techniques,  • Less mistakes if AI is programmed correctly • Higher degree of personalization & satisfied customers

  7. Disadvantages • It poses threats to lower-skilled workers in the blue collar industries.  • High cost of maintenance and if the computer system breaks down, all information is lost • Cannot replace human brains

  8. The Future Use of AI From "weak ai" to "strong ai"

  9. AI & Recruitment • AI will make the recruiting process more productive by improving efficiency and effectiveness • Strong computing power + fast processing speed = more meetings, more candidates, more résumés • Digitization → more predictive data → assess candidates' working abilities & experience • Eliminate hiring bias

  10. AI & The Automotive Industry • AI will most likely make a breakthrough in the automobile industry. • Automated cars: mimic a drive's behavior even in situations it has not been trained in & predict the best possible outcome • Building better mapping and navigation systems

  11. AI & Learning Machines & Marketing • AI will help develop a functioning strategy machine and boost decision making process. • Business and marketing departments are vigorously moving ahead with the adoption of AI technology.
