  1. What About Canada’s Economy? • To many people, Canada’s economy is still all about grain elevators and natural resources.

  2. Do you have an accurate idea of what Canada’s economy is all about? To find out, answer the following questions.

  3. Do more Canadians work… • in agriculture? • or in education?

  4. And the Answer Is… • More than three times as many Canadians work in education than in agriculture!

  5. Do more Canadians work… • in transportation and warehousing? • or in forestry and mining?

  6. And the Answer Is… • More than twice as many Canadians work in transportation and warehousing than in forestry and mining.

  7. Do more Canadians work… • in manufacturing? • or in wholesale and retail trade?

  8. And the Answer Is… • More Canadians work in wholesale and retail trade than in manufacturing.

  9. In Fact… • Most Canadian workers are not lumberjacks, farmers, or miners; nor are they factory workers. • Instead, most Canadians have jobs in which they provide an enormous range of services.

  10. But all parts of the economy are vital… • Primary industries (fishing, agriculture, forestry, mining, and oil and gas) provide essential raw materials and important export commodities.
