Climate change simulations Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Climate Research Facility Continuous field measurements and data products that improve cloud science in climate models
Objective: Improve scientific understanding the fundamental physics of clouds and the interactions between clouds and radiative feedback processes in the atmosphere to improve climate model predictions. ARM Science Program • Approach: • Instrument retrievals • Data Analysis • Development and evaluation of model parameterization Impact: Improved climate model predictions
Atmospheric Science Program Approach: A coordinated mix of activities to investigate key atmospheric physical processes: Laboratory studies of basic processes Field campaigns for “real world” observations and to validate model predictions Model-based representations of processes (develop, implement, and validate) Measurement instrumentation / method development Objective: Improve scientific understanding of the atmospheric processes that drive aerosol radiative forcing of climate Impact:Improved instruments, process understanding, and models
