COMPARING THE BIBLE & KORAN • Trying to compare the Bible with the Koran can be misleading & erroneous. • The Bible is “complete” within itself. • The Koran is incomplete, two other sources are required to know the basic practices and and beliefs of Islam. THE HADITH • A brief account or news about something. • A hadith’s length can vary; from one sentence to a full page. • Islam’s Hadith is an account about what Muhammed did and said (the Sunnah). • Many collections of Hadith exist. [SG (all)] [6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

THE ISLAMIC TRILOGY (a) The Islamic Trilogy is comprised of: • The Koran. • The Sira (biographies of Mohammed), by Ishaq and Al Tabari. • The Hadith (Traditions of Mohammed), by Bukhari and Muslim. [CSPI, p. ix (all)] [6x-Islam-Mohammed-PP-Slides-LB.PPT]

POLITICAL ISLAM (b) • Hell -- for sinners who deny Islam; primarily political. • “Political” hell is mentioned in the Koran 146 times. • “Moral-failing” hell is mentioned only nine times in the Koran. • Thus: The Koran is 94% political and 6% religious. MOHAMMED’S WORLDVIEW (a) • Islam: A political sys w/some religion. • When Islam is weak, be peacful; • When strong, attack kafirs. • Dualism: two sets of rules -- one for Muslims and another for non-Muslims. • No criticism of Islam allowed, else death. MOHAMMED’S WORLDVIEW (e) • World has two states: believers, kafirs. • Any means okay to obtain Allah’s will. • For those who resist: single them out, threaten, insult, attack and kill them. • When in a host culture -- attack it at all levels and all times. AN OBSERVATION • It’s been said that most Muslims are peaceful and moderate; that only a few are radical. • How many radicals did it take to pull off the 9/11 tragedy?
