(Yvonne) HarrisSouthampton, New Jersey How the path of my writing career developed: Before I switched to fiction, I wrote business magazine articles and prided myself on clarity. The only fan letter I ever got was from a convict in the Georgia State Prison for an article I did on tax credits.  He never said what he was in for.

  5. 2: Hidden Beautyby Tiffany ChalmersCanada What about my characters inspired me: Jinan just sort of came at me so strong and in so much need of having her story told that she couldn't be ignored. It's easy for readers to empathize and feel the pain of her situation.

  16. 4: Where There’s a Willby Kimberley WengerEphrata, Pennsylvania Why this story spoke to me:  In "real" life, I've been a professional pet sitter for 10 years.  I always wanted to use some of my weird adventures in a story.

I enjoy digging into their insidious backstory secrets, the events that shaped their emotional depths. Jenna was angry, Cade, almost too casually laid back. This story told me why.
