  3. Curriculum 2013 - 2014 • Maths Year 3 will be set for Maths according to their ability. All children currently in Miss Ward’s Maths set will now be in the other set. There will be no duplication of work, although the Curriculum is cyclical and there is always repetition of themes. • Literacy This year all topics will be different to last year, with Literacy linking to our new themes wherever possible. As we said last year, Literacy has been planned on a two year rolling curriculum for the Year 2 children previously in Miss Ward’s class. We have decided to teach a new, individual curriculum for literacy to all Year 3 children, not just those who were in the mixed Year 2/3 class as Year 2s.

  4. Theme/DT/ICT/Music All topics will be different to last year, this has always been planned but due to the new National Curriculum being published in September 2013 and becoming statutory in September 2014 – this has impacted on our decisions.

  5. Staffing In Year 3 from September 2013, there will be 2 registration groups. The Teachers within the Year group will be – Mrs James (Mon-Wed)/ Miss Henderson (Th-F) Miss Ward Miss Angier will also be teaching across Year 3 for all maths and literacy lessons.

  6. Why is German our Modern Foreign Language? German is taught in Middle School as this is where we have staff strength. Neale Wade currently split the Year 7 children and half do German and half do French. This may change in the future as we work more closely with Neale Wade. As the new National Curriculum is due to be in schools September 2013 , ready for implementation in September 2014, some of our topics may change depending on any revisions that have been made by the government.
