Genesis 5:6-32 Q: What about Enoch? Adam has died in 930 years after Creation Enoch’s translation to heaven is about ½ way between Adam and the Flood, in the 987thyear after Creation Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahalaleel, and Jared were still alive Enoch’s son Methuselah and his grandson Lamech were also living, with Lamech being about 113 years old Noah was not yet born (born in 1056 after Creation)
Genesis 5:6-32 Q: What about Enoch? In comparison with the longevity of the other fathers, Enoch was taken away young, before he had reached half the ordinary age, as a sign that while long life, viewed as a time for repentance and grace, is indeed a blessing from God, when the ills which have entered the world through sin are considered, it is also a burden and trouble which God shortens for His chosen. That the patriarchs of the old world felt the ills of this earthly life in all their severity, was attested by Lamech in the line of Seth (vv. 28, 29), when he gave his son, who was born 69 years after Enoch’s translation, the name of Noah, saying, “This same shall comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord has cursed”

Noah: his name means ‘to rest’ or to ‘bring rest’; or ‘to comfort’ in the sense of helpful and remedial consolation Noah’s father, Lamech, felt the burden of his work upon the ground which God had cursed, but looked forward with a prophetic presentiment to the time when the existing misery and corruption would terminate, and a change for the better, a redemption from the curse, would come.
Genesis 5:6-32 Q: What about Noah? Lamech’s hope was not realized in the way he desired. A change did take place in the lifetime of Noah By the judgment of the Flood, the corrupted race was exterminated, and in Noah, who was preserved because of his blameless walk with God, the restoration of the human race was secured; but the effects of the curse, though mitigated, were not removed; while a covenant sign guaranteed the preservation of the human race (rainbow), and therewith, by implication his hope of the eventual removal of the curse (Genesis 9:8-17)
Genesis 5:6-32 Q: What about Noah? The genealogical table breaks off with Noah; all that is mentioned with reference to him is the birth of his three sons, when he was 500 years old (5:32 and 9:10), without any allusion to the remaining years of his life. This is probably an indication that someone else took up the writing at this point. “The mention of three sons leads to the expectation, that whereas the line has been perpetuated through (Noah) alone, in the future each of the three sons will form a new beginning (K & D, p. 127)

The wickedness and corruption which had become rampant in the Canite line, culminating in evil Lamech and his children (not Noah’s father who was also Lamech in Seth’s line), also became rampant in both branches of the human family, with only a godly remnant in the direct line from Enoch to Noah The siblings of Noah died in the Flood; only 3 sons survived the Flood. The world was rapidly become unimaginably wicked and violent, and evidently his faithful preaching and witnessing seemed futile. Whether or not he saw his other children engulfed in this morass of evil, there is little doubt that he saw it with other loved ones

In this formula Pn is the population after n generations beginning with one man and one woman; n is the number of generations---found by dividing the total time period by the number of years per generation. (In Genesis, this is 10 generations, living over 930 years, except for Enoch)The variable x can be thought of as the number of generations that are alive when P(n) is evaluated. Therefore, if x is 2, the generations that are alive are generations n and n-1. This means that only a generation and its parents are alive. It seems reasonable to choose x = 3 most of the time. Taking x = 3 means that when P(n) (the Population living at any one time) is evaluated generations n, n-1, and n-2 are all alive. Note: Ardy’s had her daughter, granddaughter, and great granddaughter in church 3 weeks ago = n, n-1, n-2, and n-3)C is half the number of children in the family. If each family has only two children, the population growth rate is zero, but a reasonable and conservative number of children per family is 2.1 to 2.5 as far as historical records are concerned.
Allowing for famine, disease, war, and disaster, a few sample calculations will show that the earth's population could have easily reached several billions of people between the time of Adam and the time of the Flood. It is even quite possible that the pre-Flood population was much higher than our world’s population is now (in 2013). For example, if the average family size were 8, instead of 6, and the length of a generation 93 years, instead of 100, the population at the time of Adam's death, 930 years after his creation, would already have been 2,800,000. At these rates, the population at the time of the Flood (Deluge) would have been 137 billion! Even if we use rates appropriate for the present world (x = 1 [generation]and C = 1.5 [number of children in each family]), over 3 billion people could easily have been on the earth at the time of Noah." http://www.ldolphin.org/popul.html
