Post-fertilisation(when the baby platyffle starts to grow!) • Now that the ovum is fertilised, it travels to the uterus and embeds itself in the thick lining (implantation). • It is now about 100 cells and is called an embryo. • It starts to form arms, legs a head and eyes. The ovum being fertilised by the sperm cell 0-3 weeks pregnant
12 weeks in (the baby platyffle is starting to form!) • Now the embryo has fingers and a more distinct body shape. • The baby only weighs about 25g! • It has now developed its either testes or ovaries and is called a foetus.
5-6 months in (the platyffle starts to kick!) • Now the baby would have a fair chance of survival if it were born at this stage. • It starts to kick and its fingernails can be felt. • It is about 37 cm long.
