To Review Courses, You will need: • Student’s transcript from ecampus • 2. A list of General Education Courses • 3. A Psychology Course Chart • 4. The New UG Advising Worksheet • (items #2, 3, & 4 now available as a hand-out)
Acquiring the Student Transcript: Students generally know how to do this themselves, by going to www.uri.edu and clicking on Ecampus. For logon difficulties, Call 874-help.
The THREE types of UG Courses: 1. General Education courses (Gen Eds) 2. Courses for the Psychology major 3. Free Electives Which should add up to the total 120 credits required for graduation
Many students will ask, “What can I do with my Free Electives?” They can: 1. Consider a second major or minor, 2. Register for a 15-credit URInternship, 3. Take a maximum of 46 psychology credits, 4. Engage in intellectual exploration, But, they must: Complete 42 credits that are 300-level, or higher.
To initiate a discussion about Career-planning: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can ask, “What do you want to be doing …in five years?” (S)he may want to consider applying to graduate school or finding an entry-level job.
Psychology majors are prepared for entry-level jobs in many fields (e.g., business, human services) because they have acquired: • writing skills, • 2. speaking skills, • 3. analytic skills.
