  1. Common symptoms of heartburn - natural heartburn remedies Heartburn has become a very common disease in people owing to the changes in lifestyle, especially eating habits. The common symptoms of heartburn include the following: burning sensations and pain in the chest Feeling overly full everytime General discomfort in the upper abdomen or below the breast bone Pain in the throat Belching Feeling nauseated Experiencing sour and bitter taste in mouth Stomach-ache especially, after eating Burping Regurgitation Take a look at the following natural heartburn remedies 1.Reduce the intake of certain foods that cause heartburn The first and foremost thing to do to reduce the bouts of heartburn is to abstain from foods that trigger it. You must reduce the intake of foods that cause the acid of stomach to reach up the food pipe. The following foods are capable of aggravating the milder conditions of heartburn and must be avoided: packaged foods with artificial sweeteners, preservatives and flavours citrus foods such as grapefruit, orange, and lemon chocolates caffeinated products tomatoes onions alcohol and carbonated drinks garlic

  2. peppermint fried foods and meals that contain refined oils or low quality oils 2.Include alkaline foods in your diet Alkaline foods are very potent in reducing the damage caused by acidic foods. Such foods go a long way in neutralising your diet consisting of acidic foods. Alkaline foods include bananas, watermelon, skimmed milk, olives, avocadoes, blue cheese, eggs, and fish etc. Do not use dairy products that contain high fat sugar as it causes bloating, gas, and indigestion. 3.Avoid antacids There are many medications available in the market to treat heartburn such as PPI drugs, antacids, oral suspension medicines, etc. It is advisable to not take antacids as they are not very strong in tackling heartburn. Avoid OTC antacids if your meals are already coupled with acid blockers. The acid blockers must be taken 30 to 60 minutes before starting your meals. Rely more on home remedies specifically, lifestyle and diet changes. 4.Eat small meals every two to three hours Avoid eating large meals consisting of a whole heap of foods. Divide your diet into small meals to be eaten every two to three hours. If your intake includes one or two meals containing more than enough foods, you are more likely to get acid reflux. The reason behind this is that a full stomach relaxes the valve present between the oesophagus and stomach. This relaxation causes the acid of stomach to splash up the food pipe. Eat on time and do not skip your meals. So, the lesson is to divide your diet chart into smaller meals to keep acid reflux at bay. 5.Follow the diet for a period of one month Follow this diet plan for a minimum 10 days and make sure that alkaline foods remain a crucial part of your meals. You can then add acidic foods in smaller doses to your diet after following this regimen for a period of 10-20 days
