Company Background • Transec Aviation has one base in the Drakensberg Mountains, next to Cathedral Peak Hotel, 4.5 hours SE of Johannesburg, South Africa. • Offers various flights in and around the Drakensberg Mountains • Operated in Drakensberg for 3 years
Rationale • Increased revenue 300% - last 2 years providing additional cash flow for investment • Increase revenue further, without incurring large staffing or equipment costs, e.g. purchase another helicopter. • Extra revenues used to pay off the loan for its recently purchased 4th 7-seater helicopter.
Research Outline Analyse current and potential competition • other helicopter operators in Drakensberg, other picturesque parts of SA & other large countries. • Build a PEST & SWOT Current service • Marketing mix, promotional mix - ATL & BTL Financial data • Sales for last 3 years - sales forecasting Further services it could offer? • flight simulations, CDs and photos of flights, merchandise such as T-shirts Use Questionnaires to support sales forecasting • customers at helipad • past customers

Action Plan • February: topic selection • 25/3 - prospective company chosen • 4-18/4 - holiday in SA - changed company • April - start secondary research of other companies, • May - compile a draft PEST/SWOT & questionnaire for different customers. • June - go to SA for a month • July - collate findings & Write 1st draft • 10/9 - hand in full first draft • Sept/Oct - make final adjustments • 29/10 - hand in final IA.
