Mission means… To be sent out to do something.. What do you think the Apostles were sent out to do, and why? To learn that Jesus gave his Apostles one mission, then another, after his death To compare these two missions To reflect on the importance of these missions. The Mission of the Apostles
1st Mission: given DURING Jesus’ life Read the text. Highlight or underline 6 key instructions the Apostles had to follow.Write them out. • -Go only to the Jewish people-Proclaim this message: The kingdom of heaven is here.’ (God’s power is here & now) -Heal the sick, -raise the dead, -cure those with leprosy,-drive out demons. **What do you think is the most important part of your mission? Why? **What is the message the Apostles are supposed to preach? What does it mean ?
Mission after Jesus resurrected • Use Matthew 28:16-20 to write a 3 point job description, that tells them what their task is • With your partner: • Find 2 similarities or more • Find 2 differences or more • **which mission was the most important ? • Look back at the first mission. • Are these two completely different missions, or are they similar?

The 1st mission (given by Jesus during his time on earth) The 2nd mission (given by Jesus after his resurrection) • Tell everybody • Tell them the Good News (about Jesus) • Teach them that anyone who believes and is baptised will be saved • Cast out devils, speak in tongues, be unharmed by evil, cure the sick as proof this Good News is true. **Are these two completely different missions, or are they similar? **What do you think is the most important part of the two missions?

What, why, how The Good News that Jesus is the Son of God, who saved us from sin and death, to give us eternal life. • What should you believe ? • Why should you believe it? • How should you be baptised? • Why should you be baptised? • What does being saved mean? • How can you be saved ? The miracles of healing prove it’s true (curing the sick, raising the dead) With water, in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit • SO you can be saved To share in the eternal life with Jesus, free from sin and death By being baptised and believing in Jesus
