The Water Cycle By Quinn McGrath
Evaporation • Evaporation is water vapor rising with warm air up to the sky. • First, the sun heats water in bodies. Next, the water turns into water vapor. Then, the water vapor floats to the sky with warm air.
Condensation • Condensation is water vapor condensing to form a cloud. • First, the water vapor condenses into tiny water droplets or ice crystals. Next, the water droplets conjoin to form clouds.
Precipitation • Precipitation is rain, snow, hail, or sleet falling from the clouds. • After awhile, the cloud gets so heavy from collecting the water and ice that it becomes too heavy too hold itself up. Therefore, it dumps its contents and it rains, snows, hails, or sleets.
Run-off • Runoff is water that “runs” from the top of mountains into bodies of water. • After a storm, the water that didn’t seep into the ground runs down mountains and hills. Then, that water will run into bodies of water, and the whole cycle starts all over again!
