5. L.C. SMITH COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING AND COMPUTER SCIENCE Office of the Dean Dear Student, Your Mid-Semester Progress Report (MSPR) is now available online. The information in your MSPR will vary from course to course since structure and pacing differ, and faculty members may have somewhat different meanings for the designations they give for each progress category. If you have any questions about the designations in a particular course, I strongly urge you to speak with your instructor. If all of the categories for a course are blank, see the instructor as soon as possible. A Satisfactory (S) report in all categories does not suggest that the final grade at semester’s end will be satisfactory to you. If they are not reported, you can seek grade estimates through your individual course instructors. Because you are a student in a demanding discipline, an Unsatisfactory (U) report in any category should be a matter of serious concern. A preponderance of unsatisfactory reports in a given course requires immediate action. In any course where you received an Unsatisfactory report, you should contact the course instructor as soon as possible to explore ways to improve your performance. You should also meet with your academic advisor in the College to formulate an appropriate plan of action. The faculty and staff of LCS are ready to assist you in any way they can. Should you have any questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to make an appointment to see any of the following people: First year student academic advisors: Scott Freeney (ssfreene@syr.edu) or Giovanna Colosi-Lawson (grcolosi@syr.edu) Director of Student Records: Maria Marceau, 130 Link Hall, mcmarce@syr.edu STAR Program Counselor: Carmen Genovese, 259 Link Hall, starga@syr.edu Director of PRIDE and Student Support Programs Office: Kate Pynn, 123 Link Hall, krpynn@syr.edu Associate Dean of Student Affairs: Andria Costello Staniec, 223 Link Hall, costello@syr.edu If you have further questions or concerns, please contact my office at (315) 443-3604.
