BOARD STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES • Create organized and regulated environment for professional boxing • Design an appropriate structural arrangement for boxing (governance) • Improve quality of tournaments • Enhance the popularity of boxing in South Africa • Develop high performance boxers and ring officials for the international stage • Create an enabling environment for the increased welfare of licencees • Provide for a seamless transition of boxers from SANABO
ACHIEVEMENTS 2005+6 • SARS agreement that BSA will issue IRP5’s • The three-fight rule has been removed • Reduced licencing fees implemented • Rotation of ring officials introduced • Baby Champs project Launched • Port Elizabeth regional office established
TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT 2005+6 • Boxing Managers course by University of Pretoria (6) • Corporate Governance course Board Members and staff • Staff training admin and computer skills • Licencees training biokinetics, tax matters, ring mechanics (240) • Broadcasters workshop on rules and regulations
BABYCHAMPS 2005+6 • Weight categories up to lightweight only • Boxers three professional fights or less • Eleven tournaments staged in all provinces • Partially sponsored by SABC • Babychamps becoming ranked boxers and champoins
