Managing HMC Console • Accessible from anywhere on the network • Must be 5250 emulator (Telnet will NOT work) • Many can view, one can control • Access all configured partitions • Our HMC is called SYSTEMIHMC.LINKCORP.COM • Accessible even when system is in restricted state (TCPIP not active) • Steps to setup in Client Access: • Configure a system called SYSTEMIHMC.LINKCORP.COM • Create a session with the following properties: • Port 2300, use default userid (Q#HMC), Not secured • Use userid = hscroot, password = QSECORF 1

Tape drives • 1 - ¼” SLR60 • Reads down to a SLR9250 (2.5G) • Writes down to a MLR1 • 2 – LTO4 drive (TS3100 and TS3200) • Reads LTO 4, LTO 3 and LTO2 • Writes LTO 4 and LTO 3 • 1- LTO3 drive (TS3200) *used for nightly backup on Linke • Reads LTO 3, LTO 2 and LTO 1 • Writes LTO 3 and LTO 2 • Available on Link 270 – 8mm (7208), Magstar (3570) and optical (3995) • Available on Linlalt1 – 8mm (7208) and ¼” (R/W DC6150 to SLR9250)

Tape drives • TS3100 and TS3200 • Use “I/O port” for initial tape insertion • Once there move tape to either drive or magazine slot • Web interface available (Demo) • 172.26.130.3 – TS3100 • 172.26.130.4 – TS3200 • Can use front panel menus also • ** For help using the optical jukebox on Link270 ask

Communications • Currently 1-twinax device • do we need this?????? • Multiple laser printer options • Multiple comm lines/cards available (with some switching around) • Currently support PPP and SDLC • IBM SOD is to remove SDLC support • Get your customers thinking about changing connection types

Link’s Disaster Recovery Capabilities • Up to 4-V5R4 partitions running at once (we are limited by hardware, system will support 40 max) • Capable of dozens of ‘virtual’ partitions (requires V6.1) *** • Quick/easy to setup, can be used for sandboxes • We are going to V6.1 soon • All tape drive can be moved from partition to partition • Combination of dedicated and virtual ethernet connections • Available printers can also be moved between partitions • Infoprint 1352 laser, IPDS / MICR / Duplex • IBM 4247 dot matrix, IPDS • *** Not sure of actual limit

Link’s Disaster Recovery Capabilities (cont) • Currently DR workspace is portable • Can move PCs/phones/switch to anywhere in the building • Can have multiple workspaces running at one time • Remote access to all partitions (including Linke) • Standard Cisco VPN • SSL VPN • Javantage (5250 display/printer emulation) • Machine is also available for other rental purposes • DR testing for customers who are not Link DR customers • Applications testing • Upgrade testing • Application hosting

Virtualization Concepts • Virtualization, what is it ? • Making your system think it owns a resource (disk, ethernet, memory, processor, etc) that is really being shared between many systems • Advantages: • Cheaper, don’t have to buy dedicated hardware • Quickly create / remove partitions • More flexible in adding/removing/moving resources • In short, this technology allows us to ‘virtualize’ (or create) new 400 partitions at will without purchasing any new hardware or software licenses • Allows us to have many different partitions/systems running for testing purposes without spending money !!
