  1. Discipline of Prayer • Based on Prayer by Richard Foster • Prayer is to change • Prayer is the central avenue God uses to transform us. By Ezra Team

  2. Simple Prayer • God does not need sophisticated prayer. • Come to Him as you are. • Tell Him everything like children. • Then, a slow shift in our interest to God’s will and way. Openness, Honesty, and Trust!

  3. Prayer of the Forsaken • Deus Abscontius: God’s silence • No answer. We feel forsaken. • No dependence upon results • Purification • His silence is not permanent. • Wait on Him; wait silent and still.

  4. Prayer of Relinquishment • 400 Level of the School of Gethsemane • “My will be done” vs. “Thy will be done” • Painful due to severing precious roots. • Struggle is an essential process. • A kernel of wheat (John 12:24) • Crucifixion of the will • Releasing with hope

  5. Prayer of Relinquishment • Outcome: Dwelling with Him • “It is no longer I who live…” (Gal. 2:19-20) • Relinquishment is mandatory to all those who wants to mature in faith.

  6. Prayer of Relinquishment • “In fact, you will not know the shape of relinquishment until specific issues arise.” • Little by little we are changed by daily crucifixion of the will. • Not a tornado change but an oyster change.

  7. Covenant Prayer • What is the Covenant Prayer? • People don’t like commitment. • Commitment  responsibility  confining • Freedom is a product of commitment, discipline, and fixed habit. • G. F. Handel’s discipline and his works. • The Covenant of Time and The Covenant of Place • The Covenant of Place also includes a commitment to community.
