CPR Learning Space Spaces • 3 large classrooms and 2 smaller seminar rooms Technology • An integrated network of tablet PCs and PDAs • Multi image projection covering an entire wall • Large plasma screens & holographic display • Pan, zoom and tilt video conferencing facilities • Unique, quality sound and lighting effects • Broadband linking us to local homes and schools

Peer Tutor TrainingSTAR Training Programme(29th April, 6th May, 13th May 20th) • 65 students applied for and took up places. • Peer Tutors are student leaders who work alongside adult staff to support and guide students with their learning. • The training has a specific focus on personal emotional intelligence. • Training lasted 2½ hours after school for 3 weeks. • In the fourth week, students attended an interview for the peer tutor places on offer with the CPR Success Zone projects for this year.

UFA Hub Activity(Wednesday 12th May) • At CPR Learning Space • 6 schools with UFA primary and secondary fellows, CPR Success Zone staff, Community Partners and Falmouth College of Art • Challenged to design an Outdoor ‘Classroom’ • Vertical-age groups • Range of activities including problem solving, decision making, spatial awareness, observation and discussion

Approaching the Future - Poetry sessions (13th- 14th July) • Year 5 from 6 Zone primary schools • Poetry writing ‘master class’ with Bob Devereux (a local poet). • The students were encouraged to use a variety of different poetry writing techniques, using the Learning Space building for inspiration • Students made use of the tablet PCs for drafting, editing and illustrating their work.

  12. Latin Masterclasses (Autumn Term) • Year 6 from 6 Zone primary schools • Learning the language & culture • Highlight is a Roman Banquet

  13. Brain Wave III (June/July) • An experimental, cross curricular challenge based on student-led personalised learning experiences. • 667 Year 6s, 45 Peer tutors, 73 Visiting primary and secondary staff, 9 Zone staff • Everyone had a challenge and a role • 12 days

  14. Space Academy II (Monday 26th- Saturday 31st July) • Exploring the effects of role play on students’ learning • Ongoing self, peer and tutor assessment • ‘The Challenge of Space’ • 30 Year 6 and Year 7 gifted and talented students. • Cadets in flight crew teams • Challenges (completing online ‘astroventure’ training, completing a storyboard and making a movie about the development of space exploration, designing an alien with realistic environmental adaptations, creating a message for an intelligent extraterrestrial and producing a display about space heroes. • Emergencies • National Science Museum, London, to see the 3D ‘Living in Space’ movie in the IMAX theatre. • The week built up to the final scenario challenge, during which teams were assessed on all of the knowledge & skills they’d gained.
