2. Option for Calling Official • Option to stay tableside to head off unsportsmanlike situation. Use judiciously.

5. Restricted Area Plays When necessary to “get the play right,” it is the responsibility of the center official to deliver definite information, regarding the position of a secondary defender, to the lead official calling a restricted area block/charge play.

14. Eliminate Unauthorized Signals There is no approved signal for “On The Floor”. There is no approved signal for “He had his hands and arms in a legal POV”. There is no approved signal for “He didn’t get knocked down, get off the floor”.

16. Dislodging With Lower Body NCAA Mechanics Discussion A new verticality signal while walking forward a step or two has been added to the signal chart to show that a defender initiated contact by using his lower body to dislodge an offensive player.

18. POV Foul Signal The new Principle of Verticality signal demonstrates that the foul was called because the defender failed to maintain the principal of verticality. 24. 10-Second Backcourt Count Beginning in 2013-14, officials will eliminate the visible 10-second backcourt count unless there is less time on the game clock than the shot clock, which will be turned off at 25 seconds. The official who administers the throw-in in the backcourt will use the shot clock for the 10-second backcourt count with no visible count. 25. Signal to Shot-Clock Operator Signal the table to “record the game time” so officials can review to confirm a successful two- or three-point basket at the next media timeout. The “Twirl” signal will be used in games with replay equipment to communicate to the scorer the time used in a monitor review for a potential correctable error of a two- or three-point goal.
