  5. Why volunteer? Pressure from someone Recognition No one will do it Escape Become an insider Guilt • Demonstrate commitment to a cause • Gain leadership skills • Civic duty • Repay a debt • To have fun

  6. Match the right person to the right job!

  7. Achievers • Sets goals • Solves problems • Is organized • Hates to have time wasted

  9. Affiliators • “People” person • Sensitive • Nurturing • Great “meeter/greeter”

  10. No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another.

  11. Power • Wants to have an impact • Long term goals • Good strategist

  12. 2 types of Power Personal Social Influence and impact a “win-win” Goal is to help others succeed • Use “on” people • Can be toxic • Either they have the power or someone else does

  13. No one who achieves success does so without acknowledging the help of others.  The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.

  14. Motivational Ideas • Job description • To feel welcome • Good training • Clear expectations • Want interesting work • Communication • Social connections • Learn something new • How much time will it take • Appreciation
