Why volunteer? Pressure from someone Recognition No one will do it Escape Become an insider Guilt • Demonstrate commitment to a cause • Gain leadership skills • Civic duty • Repay a debt • To have fun
Achievers • Sets goals • Solves problems • Is organized • Hates to have time wasted

Affiliators • “People” person • Sensitive • Nurturing • Great “meeter/greeter”
No one is more cherished in this world than someone who lightens the burden of another.
Power • Wants to have an impact • Long term goals • Good strategist
2 types of Power Personal Social Influence and impact a “win-win” Goal is to help others succeed • Use “on” people • Can be toxic • Either they have the power or someone else does
No one who achieves success does so without acknowledging the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.
