  1. PROJECT NAME PROJECT LEADER Background/Introduction The two master-programs of the Department of Architecture are based on he different topics of the education in the 4:th year of the on-going architect- education. This project deals with the development of new contexts for the master-programs, development of new courses and a re -development of the existing courses. • Aim/Goal • To use the experiences from the existing education • in four tracks of the 4:th year of the architectural • education at Chalmers, when developing the content • of, and the context for the programs. • 2. To develop a new course for collaboration between • the two programs. • 3. To make education-materials working well for • students with different backgrounds regarding culture • and knowledge- profile (heterogenic student-groups). • 4. To make a clear progression concerning the level • of knowledge, and in combination a consistent system • of forms for assessment and examination. The • connection with doctoral studies is one important part. Masterprogram involved MPARC – Architecture MPDSD – Design for sustainable development (Also cooperation in courses with MPDCPM - Design Construction Project Management.) • Expected results • Chalmers will get two well-prepared and • well-structured master-programmes in the • field of Architecture. • More students in Architecture will come • to Chalmers from countries outside Europe. • The connection to relevant and up-dated • research will be clearer. • Methods • Work-meetings and intensive-passes where teachers • taking part together have built the structure of the progr • ammes in a topical context. • 2. Re-arranging, writing of new texts plus translation of • course-materials; Course-PM, literature etc. • 3. Writing of course-information in a way that students • with heterogenic backgrounds and knowledges, can • prepare themselves. • 4. Development of the common form for examination in • esign-educations- critics – into the demands of today and • tomorrow on quality-assurance. • International outlook • MPARC - Nordic-Baltic Research-consortium • Residential Spaces and Home Cultures; all • Nordic countries, Estonia & Litauen. Special • exchange-contacts taken with Helsinki: Visions of • Residential Futures. • Research- & educationcontacts has been • reestabliched with Paris; Ecole d’Archi Paris-La • Villette och Paris Villemin/Beaux Arts heading for • EU-appliction spring -08. Bostadens • rum (Space of housing). Chalmers 2007 ISBN • 978-91-976644-7-9. • Evaluation/Quality assurance • Chalmers Architecture has several ways for quality • assessment: • Active collaboration between teachers and students in • their daily work. • Direct connections to research in the field of every track • in the master-programmes. In some the students are • contributing to the • research investigations. • The most common form for examination and assessment • of the students results, the Crits, will be up-dated and • developed to fit the future demands on quality- • assessment. This is not in the IMPACT, but in a • pedagogical research-project: Professional • competence in educational practice: Design Revues. • A project financed by Vetenskapsrådet, at Dep. Of • Pedagogy, Göteborg University, with contribution from • teacher at Chalmers Architecture.
