The Town of Tillsonburg under the recommendation from the Special Awards Committee have acknowledged the special contributions of its community residents by declaring them Tillsonburg’s Favourite Sons & Daughters.
Tillsonburg’s Favourite Sons & Daughtersinclude • Gerry Livingston • Colin Campbell • Johnny Cowell • Richard Nemeth • Margaret Fishback-Powers
The successes established by these individuals have given the town of Tillsonburg a heritage and legacy not only to our community but to the greater Canadian community.
It is with this intent that this proposed community Parkette be gradually developed for the purpose of honouring these individuals along with future inductees.
Not only will the addition of the Parkette and Green Space be a great asset to the historical downtown area that already includes theRotary Clock Tower,Station Arts Centre Veterans Memorial &Veterans Memorial Walkway
But will be a great addition for established activities such as July 1st celebrations Down Home Country Christmas Lighting of the Christmas Tree Santa Claus Parade, New Year’s Eve Countdown
AND will be available for use by the citizens of Tillsonburg and visitors to our town.
With the location of the Parkette at 253 Broadway St, this Parkette can become the connecting point for our Historical Buildings,the Downtown area, Tillsonburg’s Parks and the Trails of Tillsonburg.
The development of this downtown Parkette giving tribute to Tillsonburg’s Favourite Sons and Daughterswill certainly would be one of a kind-a unique yet historical accomplishment showcasing Tillsonburg’s plethora of heritage.
At this time, we ask your permission to investigate the interest from Community Groups, possible designs, government grants and the costs involved in establishing this Parkette.
