Should children age 5 to 12 years old learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? Is Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsutoo risky for kids, or are they ready? Is it appropriate for them to compete?

  2. To determine when a child is ready to begin Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or martial arts in general, as well as when it is safe for a youngster to compete. For many years, Renzo Gracie has worked with underage kids between the ages of 5 and 12. They believe that youngsters aged 5 to 6 are ready to participate in martial arts classes. Competition, if wanted, must be introduced later, ideally between the ages of 8 and 10 years old, based on the child's maturity. A child of 8-10 years old will be mature enough to abide by the rules and cope with the inevitable disappointment of failure.
