  1. / gastronomy / Epihosi: Limassol’s Old Port Reborn The compact Old Port of Limassol, built in the 1950s, was more of a fisherman’s wharf and minor passenger gateway, second behind Famagusta till its demise and then Limassol Main Port. Laid over Molos or Custom’s Pier of 1881, it brought Cyprus onto the global nautical map. Today the waterfront pier is expanding into a multi-function commercial coastal park called ‘Epihosi’, an excellent site for hanging out at night and for dinner. T er’s suggestion, we had a Marathef- tiko red Cyprus wine to accompany this dish! Another super-delicious MUST EAT! The REMEZZO CAFERESTO is an all-day restaurant with a prop- er menu, where we enjoyed its hall- mark Terkenlis confectioneries as well as its splendid servings of main dishes and cocktails. The FISH MARKET Restaurant at the Old Port has just gone beyond its excellent reputation as a top class restaurant, bagging the Readers' Choice Award at the Time Out Eating Awards 2016 on 29 Nov with over 100,000 votes! No real surprise this; we had found the diverse seafood menu excellent, and simply loved the seafood dishes bearing the distinctive stamp of the cele- brated Michelin Star Chef Leferis Lazarou. Obviously, so did many other gourmets. HE REJUVENATION of the Old Port has brought in some great new restau- rants and gastronomical options to sat- isfy all tastes. Cafes and bistros of every kind and taste abound. Fast food eateries dot the scene, along with seafood bars with exotic seafood specialties and sig- nature cocktails, coffee and snacks shops interspersed with vendors offering ice cream, fresh juices, smoothies and milk shakes. But it is the plush Cypriot-oriented restaurants that are the show-stoppers, with sublime island cuisine, even elixirs! We gorged on exceptional food from the luxurious fine-dining houses that caught our eye, starting with: ΤHE GOURMET BURGER Old Port, Limassol would not be the same without the beauty of PIER ONE CAFE RESTOBAR. Enjoy a stunning, breath taking view together with a ‘Juicy Black Angus’ burger cooked on the grill and served in a soft bri- oche bun. It is topped with foie gras, ripe tomato, caramel- ized herbed mushrooms, onions and flavoured rosemary mayonnaise and served with homemade fresh French fries and crunchy side salad. This Super Gourmet Burger can be accompanied with a Duvel beer. This is a MUST EAT! BABY LAMB CHOPS When you visit ‘KIPRIAKON’ in the heart of the Old Port, Limassol, don’t forget to try the delicious baby lamb chops marinated with extra virgin olive oil and fresh aromatic herbs for 36 hours. They are cooked to perfec- tion on a real wooden grill and glazed with our traditional lemon vinaigrette and served with cauliflower puree and crunchy seasonal vegetables.
