Metalero Metalero (metal head, en inglés) es el término que designa a las personas amantes de la música metal.1 Si bien el heavy metal tiene su origen a finales de los sesenta, el movimiento cultural metalero con sus características actuales comenzó a gestarse a finales de los setenta y principios de los ochenta, con la Nueva Ola del Heavy Metal Británico (NWOBHM), cuando el movimiento punk todavía dominaba la escena musical subterránea en Gran Bretaña. A partir de entonces el metal se extendió por todo el mundo, y se diversificó tanto musical como culturalmente.

Straight edge es un estilo de vida y un movimiento juvenil que inició dentro de la subcultura del hardcore punk, de la cual, sus seguidores hacen un compromiso de por vida para abstenerse de beber alcohol, usar productos derivados del tabaco, consumir drogas y ser promiscuo. Fue una reacción directa a la revolución sexual, el hedonismo y los excesos asociados al punk.1 2 En algunos casos, esto se extiende a seguir una dieta vegetariana o vegana, evitar el consumo de cafeína o ingerir medicamentos
