Visual Content Management SystemBruno Coelho ◦bscmcoelho@netcabo.pt◦http://bcoelho.blog.com Introduction What is the VCMS? The VCMS architecture • The Content Management Systems offer control and agility over the different domains of the information life cycle. However, they have some disadvantages: • It’s hard to interact with the CMS; • It’s hard to understand complex systems; • Visual modeling enverioment • CASE Tool • Domain specific language IVcp[Domain] IVcp[Domain] IVcp[Domain] VCM[Domain] What does it do? • Increases the abstraction without ambiguity, enforcing syntax and semantic rules with a visual modeling environment that enables the understanding of complex systems. • Adapts it self to the chosen CMS: 1) showing it's specific properties; 2) Transmit the right actions to the CMS based on what was visual modeled. • Creates a strongly typed visual language. VCP2[Domain] Implements IVcp[Domain] VCP1[Domain] Implements IVcp[Domain] Goals Overcome the CMS disadvantages with the creation of a visual modeling system that offers a thorough and intuitive interaction over the chosen CMS. CMS2 CMS1 Conclusions It has been proved by the results of several tests that the VCMS has sucessfully overcome the CMSs disadvantages through it’s visual modeling system and provider-based arquitecture. How does it work? In each domain, it's possible to interact with different CMSs using a associated Visual Content Provider that implements the domain's programmatic interfaces.
