These include • (1) an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern in FALS, • (2)that some of the mutant SOD1 molecules have normal or even supranornal dismutase activity, • (3)that some of the mutant molecules can fully rescue yeast from the phenotype of loss of wild type SOD1 function, • (4)that mice expression mutant SOD1 molecules die in early adulthood from a motor neuron degeneration that reprouces many aspects of human ALS.
