  2. What does “en” mean? • The object pronoun “en” usually means “some” or “of them.”

  3. What is “en” used for? • En is an object pronoun that is used in a sentence to avoid being repetitive. • It replaces: • -a form of de (du, de la, des, de l’, d’) plus an item • -an item that is followed by a number. (six oranges) • - an item that is followed by a quantity word (un kilo de)

  4. Where is “en” placed in the sentence? • Location: En should be placed in front of the verb or in between the verbs if you have two verbs. • J’en mange souvent. • Je vais en manger .

  5. Examples of En • Je veux des oranges. J’en veux. • Je voudrais six pommes. J’en voudrais six. • Je vais acheter un kilo de fromage. Je vais en acheter un kilo.

  6. How do we negate “en”? • Negative: ne…pas goes around the en and the verb. • Je n’en veux pas. • Je n’en voudrais pas six. • Or with two verbs it goes around the first verb. • Je ne vais pas en acheter un kilo.
