  5. Why is Attending College the Right Decision? Why is it important to attend college? • College is the place where you learn skills for the world in front of you. • College is where you make new friends. • College is where you learn to become an adult and grow as a person inside and out.

  6. Why is Attending College the Right Decision? • What are the benefits of going to college and earning a degree?

  7. What are the benefits of going to college and earning a degree? Well depending on what degree you get in life and college will affect you in the possible income you would get in a job.

  8. Results of possible income: With your degree you might have an income to make these pictures come reality.

  12. What you need to prepare yourself for college. • Responsibility • Determination • Perseverance • Motivation

What you need to prepare yourself for college. • Responsibility • Attend class (something may be only taught in class) • Work Hard (no work = no reward) • Turn in assignments on time • Decide when it’s time to work and when it’s time to play. • Read assigned material before its discussed in class.

  20. What does your college expect of you? • To follow rules, procedures, and requirements. • To understand the school’s grading system. • To use to the school’s computer system to your benefits. • To GET INVOLVED! • To be able to work with other people.

  21. What does your college expect of you? • To follow rules, procedure, and requirements. • Read each teacher’s syllabus! • Look over students responsibilities and rule book. • Fulfill the requirements needed to advance to the next class.

What does your college expect of you? • To understand the school’s grading system. • A (4.0)/ A-(3.7)/ B+(3.3)/ B(3.0)/ B-(2.7)/ C+(2.3)/ C(2.0)/ C-(1.7)/ D(1.3)/ D(1.0)/ F(0.0) • To calculate your GPA: • Find your grade point of each class and times it by the number of credits the class is worth (4 credits x 2 pts) • Add up your total grade points and divide it by your semester hours (40.3/13=2.68 C+/B- GPA)

  24. What does your college expect of you? • Get involved with school’s clubs and organizations. • Drive Safe Kalamazoo, WMU Marching Band, Running Club, Fraternities/Sororities, and Film Club • Get a job on campus or in Kalamazoo.
