Depression • Question: How many of us know a person who has or had Depression? Depression brings about psychological, physical, and social effects on the person suffering the disease and to the people around them. http://www.utexas.edu/features/2005/depression/index.html
Depression Facts • Depression affects all people regardless of age, geographic location, demographic or social position • Children diagnosed with depression are finding that it is a hereditary problem. http://www.loveparadiseforyou.com/tag/depression/

Psychological Effects • Persistent depressed mood • Emptiness or sadness • Loss of interest or pleasure in activities • Feelings of hopelessness or pessimism • Feelings of guilt, worthlessness and helplessness • Insomnia • Early morning awakening or oversleeping • Difficulty concentrating, remembering or making decisions • Thoughts of suicide or death

Depression Facts • Depression affects people of all races, incomes, ages, and ethnic and religious backgrounds, but it is three to five times more common in the elderly than in young people • Clinical depression affects about 19 million Americans annually
Conclusion • In conclusion: Depression brings about psychological, physical, and social effects on the person suffering the disease and to the people around them. • No matter what age, gender, or ethnicity the person is, depression can affect ANYONE. • We all know someone who has or had depression, so we can relate to others and help cope through it.
