Color as a key design element • Most important and personal aspect of fashion • Color catches the eye first – clothing choices are usually made based on it • The apparel industry likes to stress colors and combinations as “new” when they are not • Colors are pushed in a marketing manner, so clothing is purchased • Designers will give colors interesting and unique names to catch the consumer – Ruby red
