Why should I take AP Statistics? • Understanding statistics and data will help you be able to come to your own conclusions about what you hear in the world around you • You will improve your critical thinking skills • Everyone should take an AP math class
AP Statistics Key to Success • A strong foundation in math and English, through at least Integrated Math 3 • The ability to be a critical thinker • Clear writing skills • Comfort and familiarity with graphing calculators, we will use the almost everyday • Continuous effort
Materials • You will want to have your own graphing calculator to use during this course. We will have some TI-84 calculators available for class time use, but having your own will help with homework and test prep • AP Prep materials outside of the textbook are also a good optional resource, “5 steps to a 5” seems to match up pretty well with the AP test • Access to a printer, some materials will be posted on the website and many students will find it beneficial to print it out
Applying for AP Stats • Factors affecting your placement in the course include • Previous Math Course Grade • Overall GPA • Signature on the Google Form acknowledging your reading of these slides
