Illinois History Teacher of the Year The Illinois State Board of Education is proud to announce David Elbaum as the 2014 Illinois History Teacher of the Year. Elbaum is a teacher at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, where he teaches U.S. history for District 125. The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History Award is co-sponsored by the HISTORY channel and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation through its Preserve America program. Nominations were sent to the Illinois State Board of Education and a selection committee chose Elbaum for the honor, thus qualifying him for the National History Teacher of the Year award, which will be announced this fall.
