ABSTRACT A case study of a 23 year old female patient with an initial diagnosis of partial molar pregnancy. Ultrasound imaging proved inconclusive suggesting a Artero -Venous Malformation. MRI was used to further differentiate the mass prior to surgical intervention.

Arterial Venous Malformations • Occur throughout the body • Asymptomatic lesions • Minimal shunting • Active shunting • Venous engorgement • Venous hypertension
Symptoms • Mild discomfort • Significant bleeding • Trauma • Hormonal change • Puberty • Pregnancy
Protocol • Sagittal T2 • Axial T2 whole pelvis • Axial T1 whole pelvis • High Res Axial and Coronal T2 of Uterus • Sagittal T1 Lava Flex • Axial and Coronal Lava Flex
Case study 1 • 43 yr old • Previous miscarriage • ?retained products of conception
Case study 2 • 30 yr old female • History of incomplete miscarriage • US suggested AVM and retained products • Gradual decline in haemoglobin
Case study 3 • A 23 year old female • Post ERPOC procedure for partial molar pregnancy. • On and off spotting • One episode of severe bleeding • Ultrasound diagnosed a likely AVM.
