Attendance. School starts each day at 7:30. We do lots of work each day and missing just a day can make it harder to keep up!. Breakfast. Breakfast is from 7:10 to 7:30am in the cafeteria. Breakfast costs $1.25. Reduced cost is 30¢.

Attendance. School starts each day at 7:30. We do lots of work each day and missing just a day can make it harder to keep up! Breakfast. Breakfast is from 7:10 to 7:30am in the cafeteria. Breakfast costs $1.25. Reduced cost is 30¢. Communication. We will communicate daily through your child’s DOG book binder. Please read more about this on the attached DOG book page. Dismissal. Students will wear a dismissal necklace for 2 weeks. Return this necklace daily in the DOG book money pouch. Dismissal begins at 2:15pm. Fun Friday. Your child will learn to love Fridays! Read more about this special behavior reward on the attached behavior plan page. Enhancements. We have: P.E – Mon. and Thurs. (must wear sneakers) Art – Tues. Library – Wed. Music – Fri. Computer/Guidance- Fri. Homework. Homework will be given nightly. Please sign the homework log located in the DOG book each night. We will begin homework mid-September. Great behavior. I expect great behavior all the time. Please go over the attached rules and behavior plan page with your child. Independence. Your student can do a lot more than you think. Look for times to allow them to do the work. Jobs. Students will be assigned helper jobs weekly. Jobs can be lost with unacceptable behavior Lunch. Lunch costs $2.20. Reduced cost is 30¢. Send money in a labeled envelope in your child’s DOG book money pouch. We can not cool or heat lunches.Fill out the form to allow your child to buy snacks. Keeping Updated. Make-up work. Kindergarten is a germy place. Students must be fever free for 24 hours and we can not give medication at school. Make-up work will be sent home with your child when they return. News. If your family has any important news please share it with me. This will help me understand if you child’s behavior changes and it will help me to connect with your family. Open-Door Policy. Please speak up if there is something bothering you. Please try to address any concerns directly with the me first. Playground. Students have recess from 1:25 – 1:45. 2 days a week students have P.E. for 45 minutes. It is best that your child wear sneakers daily to school. Questions – Please question your child each day after school. Ask what they learned, who they played with, and what they ate. Reading. Your child will participate in guided reading table twice a week. He/she will bring home readers as part of their homework. You will be so proud of your little reader! Snacks. Your child will need a snack and drink daily. We encourage healthy snacks, so students do not experience a “sugar crash” during our main instructional block. Texting. It is hard to get through the school phone lines. Please feel free to text me during the day at 704-402-5983. You can also email me at: jessica_park@iss.k12.nc.us. Volunteers. We love them! But please give us a few weeks to get our routines down and rapport with the students. I will contact you when we are ready for you! Unfinished Work. We will have lots of this as your child is learning to master the rigorous requirements of Kindergarten . Please finish it at home and send it back. eXperience. Kids come to school with various levels.. Please be understanding that the month of September is focused on the class as a whole. Leveled differentiation will begin in October. Words, specifically sight words. We will learn 2 sight words a week beginning in late September. Students will bring flashcards home and have weekly tests on the expected words and review words. ZZZZ’s. Kids need lots of sleep. We will only take naps for the first 2 weeks of school. Please make sure your child gets 8 to 10 hours of sleep each night. Yearly events. We will have field trips, parties, parent celebrations, and more. Check the DOG book daily for information on these events.
