  1. Retrieve SSNs by PSU IDs Utility • Prepare a file of PSU IDs • Log in to web site at: https://psucidr.ais.psu.edu/cidrapps/ • Log in using access account userid and password • For this function you will also need a SecurID • Upload file(s) • Submit file(s) for processing • ………………………………………. • Retrieve file(s) upon receipt of e-mail • Convert your report

  2. Log into the Central ID Repository (CIDR) Applications with your access account userid and password

  3. Select Retrieve SSNs by PSU IDs Utility Enter SecurID number

  4. Select Upload File for Processing

  5. SSN Conversion Utility Select Browse to Locate File on Your Machine

  6. Select Upload File • Select and Upload Additional File(s) • When Finished Uploading, Select Back to Application • With Each Upload, Note “File Successfully Uploaded” Message

  7. Select Submit File(s) for Processing

  8. Verify File was Submitted for Conversion Wait for Email Message

  9. Example of email message received when file is ready. Follow link to web site.

  10. Select Retrieve File(s)

  11. Select Excel (CSV) or Text (TXT) File to Save or Open

  12. Functions that "retrieve SSNs" require a brief statement indicating the department name, users who need this, specifically why access to SSNs is needed and what will be done with the SSNs once they are retrieved. In general, SSNs should only be used for reporting to external agencies because most Penn State transactions will use the PSU ID. Initial approval will be granted by the data stewards with subsequent approval done by the Privacy Officer to confirm the department will be properly securing the SSNs on their PCs and network.
