6th Grade Survival Kit • Zippered binder (with large rings) • 1 set of 5 dividers/tabs • 1 pencil pouch • 1 pack of pencils • 1 pack of lined notebook paper • 1 chapter book for independent reading • 1 magnet (for locker use) • 1 dry erase marker • 1 highlighter
A Day in the Life of a 6th Grader! 8:15-8:40= homeroom \ 8:40-12:25= morning classes, special 12:25-1:05= LUNCH and RECESS 1:05-2:35= afternoon classes 2:35-3:20= IE 3:20-3:35 = dismissal
Specials Include… • Physical Education = 3 classes per cycle • Art = 1 class per cycle • Music = 1 class per cycle • Health/Guidance (1 MP) = 1 class per cycle • Computer/Library = 1 class per cycle, per semester
Lockers and Organization • Your child will be given 3 locker breaks a day! • One - right away in the morning…need to get everything for morning classes • Two – right before recess…need to get everything for afternoon classes • Three – at the end of the day…get everything to go home • So, Your child needs to be ORGANIZED!!!
Homework and Assignment Books • Your child will have homework at times. • All assignments must be written in an ORGANIZEDassignment book! • Daily Assignments will be posted online. • Organization is the key to a successful sixth grade year!

Absences, Tardiness, Appointments and Educational Trips • Have your child check-in with their teachers after returning from an absence or prior to a planned absence. • After 3 days, the team will organize homework and have it in the office for pick-up.
