POLITICAL CARTOONS • DEFINITION: • “An editorial cartoon, also known as a political cartoon, is an illustration or comic strip containing a political or social message, that usually relates to current events or personalities.”
POLITICAL CARTOONS • THINGS TO LOOK FOR: • SYMBOLS • WORDS • SIZE OF OBJECTS • SMALL INDICATES UNIMPORTANT OR IGNORED • LARGE INDICATES IMPORTANT OR OVERSHADOWING • SPECIFIC PEOPLE, PLACES, TIMES • DIRECTIONALITY OR MOVEMENT
ASSIGNMENT • Answer all 15 questions • The first 12 just need to be short answer. • Numbers 13-15 should be in paragraph form. • This is due no later than the next class period. • You can turn your handwritten paper into the basket or submit your typed paper online.

You should be able to think of several things that each symbol represents, so write them all down.
